#LightTheWorld, Week 1

Off to a lovely start! This week has been filled with –

- Donating a share of a llama through Heifer International.

I love donating to Heifer! They’re a wonderful organization which is all about, “Working with communities to end world hunger and poverty and care for the Earth.” They do this by providing goods, such as animals and training for running a business. For example, if a person received a goat, they would also learn how to care for it, use its milk and coat to benefit their family, and receive training in setting up and running a small business to sell any excess. Recipients are also expected to give back to their communities. But that’s just a part of what Heifer does.

They have gifts that provide all or part of the cost of an animal, promote women’s empowerment through means such as business training or sending a girl to school, gifts that support sustainable farming, provide basic needs, or fund a project. Good stuff all around!

Donations start as low as $10.00 for a share of a goat. Check them out HERE.

- Helping with a holiday dinner for senior citizens.

This was as simple and fun as it sounds!

- Loaning some nativity sets to a local exhibit.

Our community often has a stunning and inspiring exhibit of nativity scenes of all kinds and sizes from countries around the world. The variety of interpretations of one simple scene never ceases to amaze and excite me. People are so imaginative and creative!

- Teaching a lesson to a group of young women on how we can build unity and share light.

I am privileged to serve and work with young women and men who leave me continually feeling great hope for the future of our world knowing it will be in the hands of people of this caliber and heart.

- Hosting a lunch/planning meeting for local youth leaders aged 12-18 to plan activities for 2019.

Again, with the youth. Can you tell I love them like crazy?

- Working on Christmas gifts for friends and relatives.

I feel so blessed by having so many people to love.

- Delivering the first of the Christmas gifts.

This was especially fun since the first gift I delivered was to a new friend I recently met.

Here’s to the beginning of an enlivening and joy-filled month of service and light!
