16 Practical Ideas for Avoiding the Crazy

Please excuse my recent absence. I've had some technical difficulties lately, but we're all squared away and good to go now.

Life can be intense, especially around the holidays. Today’s post contains some excellent, practical, realistic ideas from one of my very wise friends on avoiding the crazy and maintaining healthy balance. Here’s to claiming peace!

1) Wake up finding something to be grateful for. Start the day positive.

2) Find the good in people, even if they drive you crazy.

3) Love that angry person in your life. They’re angry because they’re in pain.

4) Have patience with the little child (or anyone) learning something new…which is pretty much everything.

5) Give yourself grace…even if you can’t get out of bed half the day.

6) Challenge yourself one step at a time. It’s not a speed race, it’s a marathon. Pace yourself.

7) Love your family despite their flaws. You want them to love you despite yours.

8) When you fall (emotionally, spiritually, physically, etc.), take a moment and breathe…then get back at it.

9) Ask for help. Seriously. Whether or not help come, you did your part.

10) Forgive yourself for not getting that insanely long to-do list done. Praise yourself for what you DID do, no matter how small it was.

11) If all you have is 30%, give the best 30% you can.

12) Be patient with others. They’re learning too.

13) Don’t be fooled into thinking others have it all together. You don’t know what’s tearing them apart inside that you can’t see.

14) Respect that person on social media who thinks and acts differently than you. They think you’re crazy, too. It’s all about perspective.

15) Love that person you think deserves their consequences or is abusing the systems in society. You’re not any better than they are; your struggles are simply different.

16) And at the end of the day, take a nice hot shower (or bath), breathe…and then cry your heart out (if you need to).

Tomorrow is another day to try again.
