Wherever You Are - Be There!

We've been spending a lot of time with the life-changing concepts in Lindsay and Lexie Kite's book More Than a Body these last few weeks - and we'll pick that back up next week. But when we're going through a significant shift in our way of thinking, sometimes we need a little break, so we don't fry our brains. Today we're taking that little break with a simple reminder post.

I know you've heard this idea before. Still, it's easy to forget to practice, so reminders can be helpful - especially during this pandemic when we slip into longing for how things used to be or dreaming of better days ahead in our effort to be happy.

But right now is the only moment that actually holds any power.

"Ah, yes, the answer. Live today."

"Live today."

"Yes. Live today. Not yesterday. Not tomorrow. Just today. Inhabit your moments. Don't rent them out to tomorrow. Do you know what you're doing when you spend a moment wondering how things are going to turn out...?"

"What am I doing?"

"You're cheating yourself out of today. Today is calling to you, trying to get your attention, but you're stuck on tomorrow, and today trickles away like water down a drain. You wake up the next morning, and that today that you wasted is gone forever. It's now yesterday. Some of those moments may have had wonderful things in store for you, but now you'll never know." (Love, Stargirl, pg 195-196)

While it can be valuable to look back to learn from past experiences and appreciate how far we've come, and to look ahead to plan for where we want to go, it's vital to not linger in either place. Only when we plant our feet firmly where we are and breathe into that moment can we truly live our lives.
